Talented celtic fiddler Emily Ann Thompson (http://www.emilyannthompson.com/) makes her debut with her band at Nine Irish Brothers on Saturday, January 23. Emily Ann Thompson’s Celtic fiddling is lively, passionate, and homegrown with an American flare. She plays traditional Irish, Scottish, and Cape Breton tunes in highly energetic and original arrangements. Emily currently performs with guitar and percussion, and she often adds her vocals, piano, and Irish dance.
Emily graduated from Butler University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. In 1998 she had begun studying different fiddling styles, rock, and jazz. Since 2005, Emily has performed Celtic fiddle at many different venues and festivals including the Indy Irish Fest, Indy Folk Series, Broad Ripple Art Fair, Music Mill, Brockway Pub, Claddagh Irish Pub, Carmel International Arts Festival, Linton Music Festival, Zionsville Concert Series, Anderson International Festival, and with the Anderson Symphony Orchestra as a guest artist. Her main influences include Celtic fiddlers Natalie MacMaster, Eileen Ivers, Winifred Horan of Solas, Old-time fiddler Bruce Molsky, jazz violinist Stephane Grapelli, and Mark O’Conner. Drawing from many different musicians and different types of world music, she truly has created her own unique style of Celtic fiddling. Join us for an evening of memorable Irish music.
