4th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade & Irish Heritage Celebration!

Mark your calendars now - the Fourth Annual Greater Lafayette Saint Patrick's Day Parade is scheduled for March 20, 2010. Here's the down-low on the day's events:

  • 10:00 - Nine Irish Brothers in West Lafayette Opens Early for Irish Coffees, screwdrivers, bloody marys, full Irish breakfasts, and--of course--the true breakfast of champions, the perfectly-poured pint of Guinness.
  • 11:00 - Best Costume Contest at the Big Four Depot (Riehle Plaza) with Youth, Adult, and "Authentic" divisions.
  • 11:30 - The Parade Begins at the East end of the John T Myers Pedestrian Bridge and process west to Tapawingo Park, winding down Brown Street to Nine Irish Brothers. Everyone is welcome to participate and/or spectate.  In fact, if your group is interested in participating, you are encouraged to contact Andrew McGlothlen at atmgr82@yahoo.com for details about staging times and order of procession. (Attendees are encouraged to park at the parking garage at the Wabash Landing as parking will be limited around the Levee.)
  • 12:30 - Live Music: The Whiskey Runners.  Sean Fitzpatrick and Brian McClure, two fine Irish lads and Purdue graduates, kick off the party with an acoustic set of singalongs and pub tunes.  Sean's great vocals are accompanied by Brian's blazing work on the fiddle.  These two guys are fun and unassuming, and are a great band to warm up with.
  • 3:00 - Live Music: Mossy Moran.  Mossy is a talented and absolutely hilarious Irishman.  This National Irish folk performer who hails from Ireland's southeast coastal city of Waterford is a talented and entertaining one-man show to start with, and when you add his wry Irish wit, he is quite a handful.  I guarantee you'll get a kick out of this man.
  • 8ish - Live Music: Highland Reign.  By far a crowd favorite, this fun, hard-driving band always gets the crowd rockin' and rollin'.  Highland Reign will keep the craic mighty and cap off one heck of an amazing day.
